Lumina Euro
| | Model of the car: | Lumina Euro | | | General comments: | Best car I have ever had
this is a great car!
3.1 v6 Torquey motor with a lot of power, efficient 4 speed tranny, (I expect 300,000+ of highway use)
always got 26 to 30 mpg.
I recommend acquiring a Euro model(better suspension) with 15 or 16 inch rims, and 3.1 liter engine.
(some base models have only a 3 speed, watch out of you like efficency)
Avoid 4 cylinder(under powered, and usually blown with very low mileage) and 3.4 liter engines(weak timing belt gears)
NOTE: most problems encountered by owners of these cars occur when the vehicle maintainence was neglected, change your oil and trans fluids, replace all your filters, and have your brakes maintained. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | As always, if you are not car-savy you should have a used car looked over by a good mechanic, before buying.
rear brake calipers may often need attention on these vehicles, especially in areas with road salt. the "slides" often bind up.
CUPHOLDER, if originally equipped, is in center armrest, but is usually gone. | | | Previous car: | 87 and 88 corsica
90, 91, 92 and 93 Lumina (great!)
91 Olds cutlass Supreme & Gran Prix (equivalent of Lumina)
90 Ford Taurus (yuck)
86 Saab 9000 turbo (fast, but with a LOT of lag) |
