Euro 3.1
| | Model of the car: | Euro 3.1 | | | General comments: | For what I paid for this car, I have more than got my monies worth out of it. I bought it with 104k and it now has 172k. My Lumina has been a very reliable car. Oh yeah, I've had to replace basic things, but the repairs and parts are cheap. If you find a nice used one, keep it maintained and don't abuse the hell out of it, this car will last you a long time. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | I've had to replace the distributer filler hole plug twice. This seems to be a problem on the 3.1. The trunk leaks water, but this is because of body panel seems on the top of the quarter panels. Put some clear silicon over these and this should stop the leak. The brake pedal has always been harder to push than on most every other car I've ever owned. Due in part to the poor design of the rear brake calipers. Torque coverter will stay locked up sometime when coming to a stop. Could be two things wrong here. It either needs a new torque converter selenoid or a new torque converter. If you just unplug the wire leading into the transmission on the front, the lock up feature will be dissabled and will not lock up at any speed. Easy fix, if you don't want to fix it. Gas mileage will not be that greatly effected either. Still get 28 mpg with mine disconnected. |
